Eating Healthy on the Go and on a Budget!

Hello Everyone,

I found a few articles about fast food resturants that are targeting a healthier audience. Quick Service resturants such as Dounkin Donuts, Taco Bell and even KFC are all serving healthier meals for less than or around 5 bucks. I read this article that was found in NRN that tocuhed base on DD's new addition. The Wake-Up wrap is an all egg white and cheese wrap that is only 150 at only $1.00 you can't beat it. Here's the link so you can check out the article! Here is also the link for the Dounkin Donuts so you could take a look at the new healthy menu for yourself.

KFC and Taco Bell are also offering low calorie entree for half the price. They have a special going on that you can get a meal for $3.59 cents that has only 359 calories. Taco Bell now offers an entire menu that has healthy foods such as Fresco Crunchy Taco with 150 calories. If you don't like the crunchy there is the Fresco Bean Burrito that has 340 calories but it includes beans. Here's the link to the new Drive-Thru Diet which includes tacos and burritos that you can either add in steak, chicken, ground beef or even veggie.

Overall there are more options to eat healthy on the go. There are no excuses to why people can't eat healthy now on a budget. Not only are these menus healthy there tasty and affordable. It's a win win situation, well at least it is in my book. Of course without regular exercise these diets won't work so rememeber, eat right, eat healthy and exercise lots!

Thanks for reading,

Leya

  1. My computer wouldnt let me go into the links, but by the sounds of the summary you found the same articles we did.

I think its a great idea especially with the new year and everyone wanting to eat healthy, that the fast food restaurants want to also contribute to a healthier world. I think its more attractive to advertise prices such as have a penny for every calorie also items for $1. These are inexpensive and allows customers to not spend alot to try fast food that has been made healthier.

I saw the ads for the new taco bell menu and think its fake and I didnt know there would ever be a way to loose weight going to taco bell routinely. But, if its cheap and in the drive thru im sure theres alot of people who will try it!

This will hopefully attract parents who need to buy fast food for their kids for dinner to choose the healthier options and hopefully in the future the percentages of obese children will decrease

  2. Im going to have to agree with you guys on this one. I think that it is a great idea to offer new healthy menu items for the new year. The only thing that bothers me is how America is trying to go all healthy now a days but there not changing one important thing, the portion size. These new offerings by these quick service restaurants are great, but its the portions size that also plays a big role in eating healthy. A person can eat something healthy, but still be harming their body by eating to much. I think that if the restaurants really wanna start effecting our diets, they need to make the portion sizes smaller. Over seas, people there eat half of what the Americans eat in a sitting and there living the healthiest lives, why is America having such a hard time trying to figure this out?

  3. finally someone comes up with a good idea. Fast food isnt going anywhere anytime soon. the problem with it is that it is so bad for you but so quick ,cheap and easy that you are bound to get sucked in. So why nt make some healthy choices. This is perfect for people who are constantly on the go and are watching their weight. WIth the economy the way it is today saving money anyway that you can is a big help.

  4. I agree with all the posts put up. I think that having healthy options at a reasonable price is definitely a good idea in this day and age. With the way the economy has been lately, people have been struggling to buy what's healthy at a decent price. I'm not sure I would ever go to a fast food chain or a QSR to find my healthy food, but I know there are many people out there that would.

Offering the consumer a meal or menu item that has as many calories in it as the price is, $3.59 with only 359 calories, is a great advertising strategy. Yet, people do need to realize that they get what they pay for and what they put in their bodies is not always the best for them even if there are only 359 calories in it. Portion size is a huge factor too. Someone might like the idea of buying an item for the low cost but they might assume it's a large portion size. America likes to super-size everything. Americans need to understand that sometimes it's not what you eat, it's how much you eat...
